With a heat pump, EV charger and induction hob your peak rises quickly. If your 3×25A connection gets too tight, upgrading to 3×35A already costs about € 1,200 extra per year. Check in 30 seconds whether you're at risk.

In the Netherlands you pay grid costs based on your connection capacity — the physical size of your connection, in amperes. The standard household connection is 3×25A, good for up to 17.3 kW. This system has been in place since 2009.
A 3×25A connection costs around € 395 per year in grid fees (transport + connection + metering, excl. VAT). Need a heavier connection? Costs shoot up: a 3×35A connection already costs € 1,600 per year.
The problem: if you run a heat pump, EV charger and induction hob at the same time, you can exceed the capacity of your 3×25A connection. Your group trips. The fix is upgrading to 3×35A — or smarter: lower your peak load with a home battery and energy management.
Key point
Upgrading from 3×25A to 3×35A costs € 1,200+ per year extra in grid fees. A home battery with EMS can lower your peak by up to 35%, so you stay on your standard connection. That avoids the extra cost.
A home battery acts as a buffer. Instead of pulling everything from the grid at once, the battery charges when it's quiet and discharges when you peak. Result: you stay within your standard connection and avoid a costly upgrade.
up to 35%
The battery supplies power during peaks. Your grid draw drops so you can stay within your 3×25A connection.
Spread out
Your EV charges at low power or outside peak hours. The battery catches short peaks so your connection isn't overloaded.
Automatic
An energy management system controls heat pump, charger and battery. No more simultaneous peaks.
