Installing a home battery takes an average of 4-8 hours and is carried out by a certified electrician. Your fixed system of 5-20 kWh is connected to your consumer unit, coupled to your existing or new inverter, and registered with your grid operator. The connection setup of your home battery determines how much you save. With an AC-coupled connection, the battery is connected via its own battery inverter to the consumer unit, alongside your existing solar panel inverter. This is the most common method when you already have solar panels. The battery charges via the household grid and your existing inverter remains unchanged. Advantage: you don't need to modify your roof installation. Disadvantage: double conversion (DC > AC > DC) costs 5-10% efficiency.
With a DC-coupled system the battery is connected directly to the DC side of a hybrid inverter. Solar electricity goes straight into the battery without intermediate conversion. Efficiency: 2-5% higher than AC-coupled. But you replace your existing inverter with a hybrid model. Een thuisbatterij werkt samen met je zonnepanelen. Je hebt minimaal een werkende string-omvormer of micro-omvormers nodig. Geen panelen? Dan is een batterij (nog) niet rendabel.
De batterij-omvormer heeft 2-4 vrije groepen nodig in je groepenkast. Bij oudere meterkast (pre-2000) is soms een upgrade nodig. De installateur controleert dit tijdens de technische schouw.
Een thuisbatterij van 5-10 kWh weegt 50-120 kg. Gangbare locaties: garage, berging, zolder of buitenmuur. De ruimte moet droog zijn, goed geventileerd, en bereikbaar voor onderhoud.
Conform de Elektriciteitswet moet je elke energieopslaginstallatie melden bij je regionale netbeheerder (Enexis, Liander of Stedin). De installateur regelt dit als onderdeel van de installatie.
De NEN 1010-norm geldt bij installatie op de groepenkast. De keuring is niet wettelijk verplicht in het Bouwbesluit, maar wel industriestandaard en vaak geëist door verzekeraars. Bij ons wordt ze standaard meegenomen.
De batterij moet worden aangesloten achter een geschikte aardlekschakelaar. Bij DC-coupled systemen is soms een Type B aardlekschakelaar vereist in plaats van het standaard Type A. De installateur bepaalt welk type past.

We analyseren je verbruiksprofiel, zonnepaneel-opbrengst en wensen. Je ontvangt een onderbouwd advies met het optimale aansluitschema (AC- of DC-coupled), de juiste batterijcapaciteit en een eerlijke terugverdientijdberekening. Geen verkooppraatje, maar een analyse die je kunt delen en controleren.
Een installateur bezoekt je woning en controleert: meterkast, groepenkast, bekabeling, beschikbare ruimte voor de batterij, en de staat van je huidige omvormer. Na de schouw ontvang je de prijsgarantie. Is er iets over het hoofd gezien? Dan is dat voor onze rekening.
De installateur monteert de batterij, sluit deze aan op je groepenkast (of vervangt je omvormer bij DC-coupled), configureert het energiemanagementsysteem, en test het volledige systeem. Je hoeft zelf niks te doen behalve de deur openen.
Na installatie wordt je systeem NEN 1010-gekeurd. De installateur meldt de installatie aan bij je netbeheerder. Je ontvangt de keuringsrapporten en aanmeldbevestiging voor je eigen administratie.

A fixed home battery system with professional installation isn't necessary for everyone. But for these profiles it's the smartest investment:
Online you'll find videos of people screwing a home battery to their wall themselves. Can you do that? Technically: yes, with a plug and play model up to 800 W on a wall socket. But a fixed system of 5 kWh or more? That connects to the consumer unit. And for that, a certified electrician is legally required. Do it yourself, and you risk an uninsured installation (your home insurance doesn't cover uncertified electrical work), a fine from your grid operator for an unregistered system, and in the worst case fire risk from an incorrect connection. The installation costs of EUR 500-1,500 are a fraction of the total investment. That saving isn't worth the risk.
