Most Dutch households are fine with 5–10 kWh (according to Vereniging Eigen Huis). Larger systems are rarely cost-effective unless you have a heat pump or EV charger. We calculate your optimal capacity based on your consumption data.
A home battery at EUR 4,000 sounds cheaper than one at EUR 8,000. But if the first stores 5 kWh and the second 10 kWh, you pay exactly the same per kWh. Always look at the price per stored kWh, not the total amount. In 2026, that's between EUR 650 and EUR 1,300 per kWh including installation.

95% of all new home batteries in 2026 use LFP (LiFePO4). Safer, longer-lasting (6,000–10,000 cycles vs. 4,000 for NMC), and cheaper over the lifespan. NMC is functionally outdated for home storage. We install LFP exclusively.
A 10 kWh battery at 0.5C delivers a maximum of 5 kW. Enough for most households. But if you have a heat pump or EV charger, you want at least 1C. Always check this — it rarely appears in top-10 lists.
The hardware has become a commodity. The difference is in the software that decides when to store, sell, or charge. A good EMS delivers an estimated EUR 200–500 extra per year via dynamic trading. Sigenergy and Sessy score above average here.
The standard is 10 years. Enphase offers 15. But also check the number of guaranteed cycles and the capacity retention (usually 70% at the end of the warranty period). A battery that lasts 10 years but has already lost 40% of its capacity after 5 years is not a good deal.

The home battery market is changing fast. Battery technology isn't getting cheaper anymore — the price drops of recent years are levelling off as raw material costs stabilise. At the same time, the net metering regulation ends in one single step on 1 January 2027. Not a gradual phase-out — a binary cut-off. Home batteries with NMC cells (nickel-manganese-cobalt) are still being sold. Often cheaper upfront. But over the lifespan you pay twice as much per stored kWh (according to Bliq Energy). NMC lasts 8–12 years (4,000–6,000 cycles), LFP lasts 15–25 years (6,000–10,000 cycles). LFP is also safer (no risk of thermal runaway), cobalt-free, and more recyclable. In 2026, 95% of all new home batteries are LFP. We install LFP technology exclusively. If someone offers you NMC — walk away.
